Last Saturday, I visited Smak Parlour, one of the statement stores of Old City Philadelphia. Like most successful business ventures, Smak Parlour started as an idea when owners Abby Kessler and Katie Loftus met in high school, and subsequently started dreaming and brainstorming. Upon completing their Bachelor of Science degrees in Design and Merchandising from Drexel University, Abby and Katie launched Smak Parlour in 2005.
As you walk through the door, you are surrounded with pink colored displays and decorations, creating the ambiance of a fun and edgy wonderland. It is a great spot to find unique and well-priced clothing and jewelry for the fashionable city girl, offering a wide selection of quality goods. As I perused the racks, I detected a hint of a 1950s flirtatious pinup theme or 60’s Pan Am flight attendant style.
The employees were very attentive, helpful and extremely friendly as well!
The store is located at 2nd and Market St. in Old City. If you are in the area, you should definitely check out this beautiful store. It is definitely one of a kind!
