Light in Babylon
By Serenat Kivilcim
You may have already figured out that Turkey is very dear to my heart; it is the country where my soul belongs. Though I live thousands of kilometers away, Istanbul is where my heart beats, and I have some photos to share with you from my last short visit there. I think it will be a great touch to include with the photos a music video by ” Light in Babylon “, a fusion group of musicians of different ethnicities. As such, the group and their video gives you a glimpse of the many colors of Turkey.
The trio Light in Babylon first met coincidentally in the streets of Istanbul in 2010. Michal Elia Kamal, the singer, is Israeli of Iranian origin; Julian Demarque, on guitar, is French; and Metehan Çiçi, on santour, is Turkish.
They have toured throughout Turkey, Cyprus, Germany, Switzerland, France, Hungary Greece, Finland and India, and they have received significant attention from international media. The band continues its journey seeking to create a vision, through music, in which every person can live a life full of diversity, freedom, peace, and light.
