Kennan Moving Company
By Jay-Michael Wilson
Kennan Moving Company, a New York indie rock band released a new music video for their song “No Fun” on June 18th. “No Fun” is the title track to their debut four track EP No Fun.
The track is driven by a wompy bass and sharp percussion with a clean guitar sound that gives off a groovy late 70’s early 80’s vibe that will have you bopping your head without you even knowing. The distortion in lead singer Oliver’s voice shows resemblance to a Strokes song, melodically and lyrically. This is where New York’s urban modern sound comes through for the band. Overall, the song is a great time that could be played driving down the highway with your friends, or chilling in the comfort of your room.
The Xplorers Club, whose team did a great job capturing the essence of the 80’s, directed the music video. Using very colorful, psychedelic lighting will attract the attention of the audience from the start. The tone of the song matches perfectly with the tone of the video, smooth and free flowing. The simply groovy music video doesn’t overshadow the song nor does it make you bored. It’s 3 minutes of pure fun that will make you hit the replay button.
I really did feel like I was watching a 80’s pop video, bringing joy to my heart to know that 80’s pop culture is still relevant in today’s music industry. I can’t wait to hear more from Kennan Moving Company. They have a promising future ahead and have gained one more fan.
