Jonathan Tyler Show Review
By Harriet Kaplan
Jonathan Tyler was a wonderful musical fit opening for Ron Pope and The Nightwalks. Tyler is a Texas-based singer/songwriter/guitar promoting his new LP, “Holy Smokes.” The album, described by Rolling Stone, is “crunchy, roots-rock.” Tyler has written a number of songs reflecting the “American music tradition from Howlin’ Wolf to the Allman Brothers to Pink Floyd.” The kinetic set was fueled by high-octane guitar playing with non-stop edge. Jonathan Tyler successfully fired on all cylinders with his diverse musical talents. He is an engaging and likable frontman. Tyler kept the receptive audience entertained with his spontaneous onstage banter/observations between songs. Striking a chord with fans, they cheered and laughed a lot. Jonathan Tyler delivered a strong, satisfying set of material concertgoers won’t soon forget.
